A regular look at some of the inspirational stories from some of our amazing DB Maxers…

This week it's Karen Manning who took part in the Castle Combe 10k with us.

"I lost my mum about 3 years ago very suddenly, and although an air ambulance was called to her she wasn't stable enough to travel in it. How quickly they responded and gave support on the ground was incredible. Since then I have always done what I could to support our local air ambulance, and this year staff where I work (Medvivo who run the urgent care services in Wiltshire for 111 and GP out of hours) selected Wiltshire Air Ambulance as our main charity of the year.

As the Chair of our Fundraising Committee I try to take a lead in getting people involved in activities, and this will be our first one this year. As a company we ran a Winter Wellness campaign in January to encourage people to get the New Year off to a healthy start. Some of us did Dry January, others Run Every Day (RED) January and things like Couch to 5km and Veganuary. For me, I wanted to get back to doing more regular exercise so with 13 other colleagues we signed up to the Virgin Pulse 100 Day Global Challenge. We are about a quarter of the way in and I need to step up my game; and a chilly 10km run is what I had in mind to kick start February so it was perfect timing. It’s my 50th birthday as well later this month so a busy month all round. Just need to get a few more sponsors!’
